About the Artist

I am a self-taught artist with a history in ceramics, metal sculpture and engineering.  Working with clay for decades blessed me with an obsession of texture. Working with metal introduced me to patinas and rust.  Engineering taught me problem solving and the value of process, testing and failure, all of which directly apply to making art.

Art is an extraordinary multiverse. My journey to working with mixed media is driven by a desire to create art with many layers, where the sum of the parts can spark both curiosity and conversation. My unconventional techniques and application of acrylic paints and pastes, copper and iron, metal patinas and sculpture materials – all newer work installed on a handmade wooden “canvas” – creates visually distinctive and thought-provoking pieces.
